“𝗦𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮” is an artist’s book published by Prakriti, based on Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar’s Kathamala, retold in poetic form by Prabir Sen. It brings together seventeen stories that many children once grew up with–stories full of wit, common sense, and moral clarity. What makes this edition truly special is the way it has been made. It isn’t a mass-printed book; it’s a handcrafted work of art. The text has been printed using letterpress, while the illustrations by Krisnendu Chaki were created from paperboard blocks. Only a hundred copies of this book exist. The language also holds a quiet beauty – some words may sound old or unfamiliar, but they carry the rhythm of how Bengali literature once flourished.

Through this session, children will discover how a book can be both a story and a piece of art—something to read, to hold, and to wonder at.
