Kalpathi Ganapathi Subrahmanyan immersed himself in the art traditions of Bengal and was deeply influenced by Rabindranath Tagore’s philosophy and educational ideals.

Inspired by Bengal’s nature and folk traditions, he painted subjects like Durga, Behula, Baul singers, and Bahurupi performers. Despite his vast contributions, there has been no comprehensive discussion of his work in Bengali โ€” only occasional articles or centenary tributes.

This special issue aims to address that gap, covering his art, essays, children’s literature, poetry, teaching methods, and even film scripts about him. Some English pieces are also included, given his pan-Indian influence.

Donโ€™t miss this tribute to a true cultural legend.
