This curated book reading session is part of the ongoing exhibition ‘Negotiating the Aspired Home: Aapse Milkar Khushi Hui’, which journeys through time and design, tracing how Indian homes have evolved from medieval courtyards to modern apartments, from moodas to monoblocs.

Ridhima and Ashray will reflect on how our spaces and furniture quietly narrate stories of identity, aspiration, and resilience. This session invites design enthusiasts, students, and curious minds to engage with stories of craft, memory, and cultural negotiation—and to reconsider how everyday objects shape who we are.

Ashray and Ridhima are industrial design students at NID Ahmedabad, specializing in Furniture and Interior Design. Ashray is fascinated by mechanisms and structures. His work reflects a focus on the utility and application of modern tech in his design process. Ridhima is inclined towards exploring the intersection of culture, materials, and functionality in everyday objects. She is currently engaged in projects that influence one’s state of being in a space through designed objects.
