Combat is a comedy based on the aphorism that… ‘none of the ideals and promises for which our wars have been waged have ever been realised’. The play explores in a humorous manner the fact that despite its gory past, the human race is still ready to go to war at the proverbial drop of a hat, or a bombshell! The play is about a martyred statue. It is also about a three-member army squadron, stylishly named ‘combatants, companions, numskulls of the Pacifist Regiment’ led by a garrulous chief for whom combat is the raison-dโetre of life.
