About the performance:
𝐀𝐧𝐮𝐛𝐡𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐡𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚 and 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 come together to ‘perform’ a very personal documentary, attempting to explore the special relationship that Mahasweta Devi enjoyed with the lives that peopled her writing and the people that fueled her activism. In a series of four conversations on the screen from the film entitled 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, directed by Pushan Kripalani, interspersed with live readings performed by Anubha and Naveen from her writing, her interviews, Naveen’s poems of the city, more conversations, the performance revisits her life in a ‘travelogue’ that weaves in and out of her story—a young woman writer trying to make her mark in a male dominated publishing world, coming to age both as a wife and a mother, a relationship with her once-estranged son—and the story of a nation in the throes of a freedom struggle.
