Are you an artist or keen to be one, or maybe you just have an interest in the arts, a desire to understand it and explore the relationship between art and gender? How do different art forms help us identify, articulate and express issues close to our hearts and convey the complex experiences of caste, religion, dis/ability, sexuality, conflict and more? How do works speak of individual and collective realities?

𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿. 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗮. 𝗔𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗺. is an art appreciation workshop that addresses these (and many more questions you may have) through the artforms of digital performance and mixed media works. Through conversation and deliberation, we will together deconstruct various artworks, think about their fundamental elements/constituents and analyse how they address diverse concerns and issues and aspirations. While specifically looking at two edgy and growing artforms, the workshop will also offer a broad framework for participants to employ while engaging with art as both a tool and an outcome.

𝗿𝗲𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 is an initiative that produces, mentors and disseminates artistic efforts that respond to contemporary social and political challenges.

𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗶 is a feminist activist and award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work explores the politics of everyday life – from gender and justice to memory and space.

𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗮’𝘀 practice in the cultural programming space is located at the crossroads of gender, community knowledge, history and the arts informed by her background in urban studies and heritage conservation.
