In conjunction with the audio installation, ‘Soundings: India – Let Your Voice Be Heard’, Colette Copeland invites participants for ‘Let Your Voice Be Heard’, a collaborative community sound work at Arthshila Ahmedabad.
DETAILS:
Date: 14 Sept. 2024 | Saturday
Time: 2 pm – 5 pm.
RSVP via the Link in Bio to reserve a 30 min slot.
Note from the artist: I am working on an experimental sound project focusing on amplifying voices that have historically been silenced–specifically female, non-binary and queer voices.
About the session: I ask each participant to choose a phrase or series of phrases of something they would like to share with the universe. It can be anything that is meaningful for you. Through repetition, the phrases become a chant, symbolizing reclamation of power and using the voice as a tool for healing and catharsis, not only for the individual who is sounding, but for those who are listening.
For multi-lingual participants, I record in their first language and also English. We will record a few short 1-2 minute “takes”. Speaking, whispering, singing (if you wish), a version that experiments with repetition and emphasis.
*note– I do not make any money or profit financially from this project. The work is not for sale. It is intended to create dialogue and community.
