About The Event

Sab Changa Si (All Was Good) Directed by Teresa A. Braggs,
2022 | India | Documentary | 1 hr 16 mins
Curated by Ashok Vish under ‘Acts of Resistance’

About:

In her debut film, Teresa A. Braggs uses first-person footage captured with a small camera and minimal resources to draw us into the heart of a contemporary, student-led political movement in the urban city of Bangalore, India. Set against the backdrop of the right-wing government’s controversial and divisive Citizenship Amendment Act of 2019, this documentary celebrates the process and outcomes of the movement. With a raw and persistent gaze, the filmmaker intimately documents the complex relationships between protesters in Bangalore and critically reflects on the challenges of building solidarity across identities. Sab Changa Si is a delightfully defiant and sensitive portrait of young people in search of a common language. Made with a budget of less than 60 EUR, Sab Changa Si (All Was Good) became the first Indian film to win the Peace Film Prize at the 72nd Berlinale. At 24, Teresa A. Braggs was also the youngest filmmaker to receive this award.

Acts of Resistance:

In conjunction with Kaghazi Pairahan, an exhibition that weaves captivating stories and histories of resistance from South Asia, the ‘Friday Films Showcase’ at Arthshila Santiniketan offers a six-week lineup of films titled ‘Acts of Resistance.’ Each film provides a unique perspective on the struggles and triumphs of various communities, reflecting the face of defiance against oppression and the fight for justice.
