Arthshila Ahmedabad’s Film Showcase this week features ‘Pichla Varka’ by Priyanka Chhabra in collaboration with Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT).

Pichla Varka tells the story of ordinary women who were Partition refugees, settled in India post-independence. With the partition of Punjab they experienced the violence and uncertainty of leaving their homeland for a new country. The last generation of people who can tell what pre-partition India was like and how does this history play out in ordinary lives today.

Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) commissions and mentors films driven by personal passion and social relevance, enlarging the scope and potential of documentary practice. Since 2000, its films have been screened in nearly 2000 international festivals, and won more than 340 awards.
