अचोबांच घर (My Granfather’s House): The director visits her grandfather’s house on the 5th anniversary of his death, missing him dearly. Spending time there, in his absence, leads to revelations about him from her grandmother, the house maid, and her father that disgust, shock, and hurt her. She is torn between conflicting stories of who her grandfather was. While dealing with these stories of terrible marriages and troubling parenthood, she also has to tackle her grandmother and the house maid nagging her to get married. Meanwhile, the house itself seems to come alive with his presence, along with the tree outside their house.
Brair Kani (Cat’s Attic): Brair Kani explores an ancestral house located in Srinagar, Kashmir. Using the attic as a site of reflection, the film navigates the relationship between space, belonging and personal history. Inhabiting the confines of the attic, the house spirits exist simultaneously as carriers of collective memory and as manifestations of the emotional landscape.
Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) commissions and mentors films driven by personal passion and social relevance, enlarging the scope and potential of documentary practice. Since 2000, its films have been screened in nearly 2000 international festivals, and won more than 340 awards.
