Nagari Short Film Competition is an annual competition designed to guide and develop films that focus on urban issues, specific to Indian cities. Nagari intends to be a bioscope for the city, and through this lens we explore diverse conditions and engage with urban issues.  It aims to serve as a platform for filmmakers, architects, urban designers and planners to present their visions of, and for, the city, thereby using film as a medium to make the public aware of the issues.

Nagari 2023 has brought nine 7-minute documentaries that revolve around the theme of Reclaiming the Urban Commons through the Lens of Waste Management – addressing the generation, management, disposal, and treatment of waste in urban India and the individual stories of people affected by it.

Charles Correa Foundation (CCF) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Goa. Through their many initiatives, CCF engages the public and the professionals – architects and planners, to address issues of urban India, and find ways that they can improve them. As Correa would often say, ‘Our cities are among our greatest assets; they are part of the wealth of India. They are places of hope.’ CCF acts as a think tank for urban guerrillas. CCF looks to identify urban injustices, understand and acknowledge them, and then design a strategy that brings these issues to the forefront of public discourse.
