Arthshila Ahmedabad’s Film Showcase this week features ‘The Story of Madras…Chennai the First City of Modern India’ and ‘Madras: Vision of Day’ by Sujatha Shankar.

The films are a part of the archival collections of Architect Sujatha Shankar from Chennai and are included in the displayed archival material of the ongoing Exhibition, ‘Vandalising the Indian Atelier’ at Arthshila Ahmedabad. The films explore the history of the city, highlighting its built heritage which memorialises all that Madras has contributed to the subcontinent. They seek to create awareness and sensitize the next generation to Heritage, disseminate knowledge about the city and its local history to understand it in the context of the larger canvas of India.
