Harold and the Purple Crayon: A Soundscape by That Book Store
Date: 13 May 2023, Saturday
Time: 11.30 am – 1.00 pm
The text is simple yet layered while all the artwork appears to be made with a purple crayon. This story will be narrated using a soundscape produced in-house at That Book Store. The participants will have access to paper and a single crayon to imagine the story and create as they move ahead. The session will open and close with exploring a set of picture books based on the story.

Alternative Endings: A Workshop on Retelling Stories
Date: 13 May 2023, Saturday
Time: 3.00 pm – 4.00 pm
This session is designed to encourage readers to rethink the endings of fairytales and oral stories like those by the Hans Christian Anderson or the Brothers Grimm or other stories that strengthen gender stereotypes, racism, classism and other biases. Participants will be provided with picture books to change the endings as they may see fit or retell the story entirely if they would like.

Vincent Paints His House: Storytelling Workshop for Kids
Date: 13 May 2023, Saturday
Time: 4.30 pm – 6.00 pm
This is a story about Vincent as he talks about colours and their shades. It encourages imagination and the ability to create in the listener’s minds. We encourage parents to sit with their young ones for this session and be part of the storytelling. We will begin and end with exploring books around the theme of colours and creation. Each family will be encouraged to create a collaborative image with colours. Participants will be provided with papers and crayons for this activity.

Book Talk: In conversation with That Book Store
Date: 13 May 2023, Saturday
Time: 6.30 pm onwards
The session will focus on a few books across formats, themes and genres including touch and feel, pop up and other interactive books. Also, bilingual, wordless and picture books in verse along with zines and comic books to initiate a conversation about forms and expression. The conversation will shed light on how new parents or adults who work with children can find the most relatable books.
