Join us at Arthshila Ahmedabad for the Panel Discussion ‘Between Memory, Make-Believe, and Reality’ with Palash Vaswani, Pamaljeet Singh, moderated by Sweety Taur.
DETAILS:
Date: 26 July 2025 | Saturday
Time: 6.30 pm onwards
This panel brings together perspectives on Indian domestic life in film and architecture to discuss invisible negotiations, memories and materialities of how homes are lived and imagined. Unpacking film, architecture and curation as acts of worldbuilding, the discussion explores how memory becomes material, and how these mediums influence the way people imagine & make homes. We will reflect on everyday design intelligence, cultural specificity, and slow evolution of home life depicted through films and architecture while critically engaging with questions of authorship, representation and ethical responsibilities of shaping the narratives about domestic life. The conversation invites deliberation on ways in which homes can be civic spaces, how films and buildings might act as living archives and how creative practitioners can stay close to truths, frictions and futures embedded in places we call home.
