‘Writing Residency at Arthshila Santiniketan’

Arthshila Santiniketan Writing Residency aims to identify individuals working across the disciplines of visual and performing arts, cinema and cultural studies; providing them with a space and environment to develop their ideas into texts.

The writing residency offers a dedicated space for early-career writers from any discipline of art to commit a month to writing and producing a well-researched and annotated article of approximately 2500 words, with an opportunity to be published in Arthart, Arthshila’s Bi-annual Art Journal.
Two writers-in-residence will be selected; each will receive an honorarium of INR 20,000, in addition to travel expenses, accommodation and food. The writers-in-residence will also have access to mentors.

During the four-week residency, each writer will engage with audiences in two interactive sessions that they will develop around their project; these may include book reading sessions, film screenings and interactive discussions.

The residency, based in Santiniketan West Bengal, will begin in mid-November 2024.
