Mayurbhanj Chhau is one of the three styles of Chhau dances in India. It is distinguished by its performance without masks, dynamic movements, and expressive choreography. Evolving from the martial arts traditions of Odisha, it flourished under the patronage of the Maharajas of Mayurbhanj. The dance form blends martial vigour with elegant grace, incorporating elements of local folk and tribal dances. Its energetic leaps, spiralling movements, and powerful physical expression celebrate Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.
