The workshop will bring into focus our own responses to place, living here in Goa, how we perceive the people around us, and aspects of identity that we carry with us from our homes and families. With a fun approach to images and words, the workshop will encourage participants to explore their personal voice through self-produced stories and zines.

The exhibition, Lands, Real and Imagined: Women Artists Respond to the Art & Travel Writings of Maria Graham (1785 – 1842), with the works of 5 artists responding to the writing of Maria Graham, provides an interesting backdrop for the exploration of place and identity. From various nations and cultures, each of the artists provides a different lens through which to understand an environment and its people.

Lina Vincent is an art historian and curator with 20 years of experience, and founder-director of LVAC, focusing on inclusive, collaborative arts engagement. Her research spans arts education, printmaking, living traditions, and environmental consciousness in the arts.

Christina Dedhia is a curatorial and research assistant at LVAC, working across contemporary art, design, and heritage. With a background in history, archaeology, museum studies, and conservation, she connects past and present through research and display practices.

Facilitated by arts-education resource LVAC.
