The talk explores photographer Ulka Chauhan’s book The Memory Keepers and Future Seekers with art writer Samira Sheth. It looks at Goa’s heritage homes as spaces where past and present meet, reflecting on the universal idea of home. Through Ulka’s photographs and Samira’s texts, it traces the emotional foundations of belonging and identity, evoking questions of origin, memory, and place in Goa’s migratory present.
Ulka Chauhan is a photographer based in Mumbai, Goa, and Zürich. Her work has received recognition at the Prix de la Photographie Paris, International Photo Awards, and Tokyo International Foto Awards. Her books Two Worlds and The Memory Keepers and Future Seekers explore contrasts of culture and time, while her ongoing project, Facing Goa, captures the spirit of contemporary Goa.
Samira Sheth is an art writer and independent curator based in Goa. Her writings appear in publications such as Two Worlds, The Memory Keepers and Future Seekers with photographer Ulka Chauhan, and The Art News Magazine of India. Her work focuses on building connections between communities through the arts.
