DETAILS
Date: 06 December 2025 | Saturday
Time: 6.30 PM Onwards.

This session reflects on Jahangir Jani’s practice and how queer bodies navigate the pressures of religion, sexuality, and power, drawing from decades of art-making rooted in vulnerability and resistance. Through personal narratives and artistic process, he speaks to the politics of visibility and the emotional labour of self-representation. The talk frames art as a site of inquiry, rupture, and reclaiming one’s own voice.

Jahangir Jani is a multidisciplinary, self-taught artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, film, and writing. His work mines lived experience, interrogating identity, desire, and social conditioning through a language shaped by urgency, introspection, and fearlessness. With 17 solo shows, acclaimed films, and international recognition, he remains a vital voice in contemporary queer art from India.

Shaunak Mahbubani (they/she, based between Berlin and India) is a curator-writer exploring possibilities of co-visioning futures grounded in the pursuit of non-duality. Their work focuses on practices that foreground personal and ancestral lived experiences, towards the resuscitation of wounded archives.
