About The Event

Join us with your young ones for the screening of six short animated films (Printed Rainbow, A Summer Story, The Balloon, Shape, Balance and Apathy) at Arthshila Goa.

DETAILS:
29 August 2025 | Friday
6.30 pm onwards
Running Time: 50 mins

Printed Rainbow: The journey of an old woman and her cat through the fantastical world of matchbox covers.

A Summer Story: The film is based on K.G. Subramanyan’s illustrated book ‘A Summer Story’ that retells the old story of the thirsty crow in today’s context. Ink drawings on paper, animated.

The Balloon: A quick warning people against rumour-mongering. Rumours can make a mountain out of a molehill.

Shape: A short film at the heart of the project, highlighting the changes happening around us that we don’t ordinarily notice and how they affect us. Breaking the film into a series of scenarios, it presents design within wide contexts, prompts curiosity, and identifies some of the practitioners working in these contexts.

Balance: The setting is on a floating platform where a group of evenly and carefully placed men live. Each man is aware that the platform is not stable and, in order not to fall to their deaths, they maintain a careful balance of weight to prevent the platform from tipping too far and causing them all to fall. This reasonably harmonious understanding is lost when one man pulls up a heavy trunk. In the ensuing struggle, balance is lost in more than one sense.

Apathy: A film made humorously to show the common man’s apathy in his day-to-day behaviour.
