Libia Lobo Sardesai ran the underground ‘Voice of Freedom’ radio station during the last years of the Portuguese regime and played a key role in Goa’s liberation struggle. Broadcasting from the forests of the Western Ghats, she helped keep the resistance alive through Konkani and Portuguese airwaves.⁣

Post-liberation, she went on to become Goa’s first practising female lawyer, founded the Women’s Cooperative Bank, and served as the first Director of Tourism for Goa, Daman, and Diu. In 2025, she was awarded the Padma Shri for her immense contributions.⁣⁣

Her contribution is commemorated in the exhibition through an artwork by 𝐍𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐡𝐚.

This evening also marks the closing of the exhibition, 𝘒𝘢𝘨𝘩𝘢𝘻𝘪 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘯: 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘈𝘴𝘪𝘢.⁣⁣
