About The Event

Join us at Arthshila Ahmedabad for a Session & Exhibit on ‘The Incredible Child: Creative Processes and Adult-Child Dialogues’ with Samina Mishra.

DETAILS:
Date: 05 Oct 2025 | Sun
Time: Exhibit – 5.30 pm onwards
Session – 6.15 pm

The Incredible Child was a monthly art programme that ran from 2022 to 2024, for children in the age group 9-15 years, at Simurgh Centre, a project of Goethe Institut to support the Afghan refugee community in Delhi. A variety of resources and practices were used in the programme, including film-viewing, storytelling, collage and doll-making, encouraging children to reflect on the self and the world.

Walk through a display of some of the work created by the children and then listen to the ways in which processes of co-creation can enable adult-child dialogues to make place for play and beauty in all lives, and include children’s voices and experiences in our understanding of the world. The session will end with a reading of the picture book, Lines (Ektara 2025), written by Samina Mishra and illustrated by Kripa, that emerged from this engagement.

Published in 2025, ‘Lines’ is a publication of Jugnoo Prakashan, an Imprint of Ektara.

Samina Mishra is a documentary filmmaker, writer, and teacher based in New Delhi. Her work uses the lens of childhood, identity and education to reflect the experiences of growing up in India. Her recent work includes the books Lines, Roop and the River Crossing and Where Does It Hurt, The Hum Hindustani Poetry Podcast on children and citizenship, and The Incredible Child, an arts-based programme for Afghan refugee children at the Simurgh Centre, Delhi.

Samina founded The Magic Key Centre for the Arts and Childhood that works on intersections between childhood, the arts and education. Samina hopes that her work makes children think about the world they want to live in, and encourages adults to support children in realising that world.
