The session is centred around the book ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐ ๐ค๐ ๐พ๐ก๐๐ฎ ๐๐ค๐ฉ, Sumana and Lakshmi will share some of these stories, even as they reflect on the layers of hierarchies that inform relationships between instruments and artists, along with the politics, aesthetics, and lived experiences that are part of the world that the Ghatam inhabits.
๐ฆ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ฟ is a Ghatam player, writer, and researcher who studies under Sukanya Ramgopal and has also trained in Carnatic vocal music. Her work spans performance, collaborative projects, and research on music histories, particularly at the intersection of language, migration, gender, and music.
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐ is Gujaratโs first sole female stand-up comedian, with over 15 years of experience using humour to address social issues such as politics, patriarchy, and gender norms. An award-winning investigative journalist, she received the Ladlee Media Award (2015โ16) for her series on gang-rape victims and co-founded Mahila Manch, a feminist stand-up collective in Ahmedabad. She has performed at platforms such as the Mathrubhumi International Literature Festival and the Gujarat Literature Festival, and her special act Love, Sex and Dhokla explores the experiences of urban women with humour and honesty.
