Musician and researcher Sumangala Damodaran presents an evening of songs created in response to various issues that came up as part of social movements from the early 1940s to the present. These songs, written in moments of political upheaval and social change, speak of struggle, solidarity, and hope.

Sumangala Damodaran is an academician and musician, whose experience spans teaching and research in Economics, Development Studies and Popular Music Studies. She is also a singer and composer, she has performed extensively across India and abroad. Her work in music has been featured in exhibitions at the British Museum, the Kochi Biennale, Serendipity Arts Festival, and Asia Art Archive.

Pritam Ghosal is a sarod player and composer who has been trained by eminent gurus like Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan and Pandit Debojyoti Bose.

Mark Aranha is a musician and PhD candidate in Musicology at the University of the Witwatersrand. He works across a diverse range of genres from jazz to contemporary South African and Indian styles.
