Arthshila Ahmedabad is pleased to invite you to a talk by Dr. Kurush Dalal on ‘The Politics of Food: Who Decides What and Why We Eat?’ in collaboration with IGNCA Regional Centre Vadodara on Sunday, 01 October 2023 at 6.30 pm.
About the Talk:
All food is politics. From the very basic prehistoric equations between hunter gatherers to the beginnings of civilization the entire story is one of politics and of changing politics. State formation processes are directly linked to the control of food. Had there been no Food Politics there would have been no Harappans and no Industrial Revolution. The relationship between states and nations is fraught with food politics as very often is the diplomacy between the two. The starvation deaths of millions of people have been justified by politics and the suicidal attacks in wars have likewise been about food politics. Political parties manipulate populaces and vote banks using a nexus of food, religion and political manipulation. Everything you eat, you eat with know its political roots.
