Banaras Pink tells the story of Meenakari, which fused with the pink of Banaras to evolve into a unique craft and aesthetic tradition – the Gulabi Meena. Through the metaphor of the city of Banaras and how it changed over the years, affecting every tangible and intangible thing that flourished in it, the Film explores its rich history. Jeweller and bon vivant Banarasi, Raman Shankar Pandya narrates the nostalgia of some of those masterpieces, of the craftspeople and living in times that may never return in this era of capitalisation and market forces.
Through the contemporary exploration of professional entrepreneurship, technological advances and intervention from designers, Handmade in India explores the experiences of traditional craftspersons from across the country and their connection to the land which gives them their identity.
Kotpad Weaving: The Story of a Race against Time tells the rich and fascinating story of a unique, timeless textile tradition that uses natural dyeing processes along with tribal motifs that has found global recognition.
Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) commissions and mentors films driven by personal passion and social relevance, enlarging the scope and potential of documentary practice. Since 2000, its films have been screened in nearly 2000 international festivals, and won more than 340 awards.
