Arthshila Ahmedabad’s Film Showcase this week features films by Girish Karnad about Bhakti movement and Sufism in India.

‘Kanaka – Purandara’ is a film about the saints Kanaka and Purandara who led the Bhakti movement, which insisted that theological language be spoken in popular dialect rather than Sanskrit.

‘The Lamp in the Niche’ is a two-part documentary that delves into the world of Sufism and its profound connection with the Bhakti movement in India, tracing their origins, development, and the intricate influence they have on each other.
