Looking at how a site might be read, entered into, interpreted and activated, Engaging with Site is an exercise in co-reflection on site-specificity, notions of participation, interactivity and engagement, and how these themes intersect within contemporary art practice today. Stemming from the recently culminated Emerging Artists Award (EAA+) residency, organised by the Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) in collaboration with Arthshila Art Studios in Parivartan, Bihar, the event will also bring together insights from that experience shared by Residency Coordinator Bihan Das and artist Surajit Mudi, in conversation with Sanchayan Ghosh, Associate Professor at Department of Painting, Kala Bhavan. Sanchayan was invited as an interlocutor during the residency where he spent time with the residents and their interventions, inviting them to consider fluid methodologies of reading sites and forming nuanced narratives alongside.
